Goodbye Huntsville HELLOOOO ATHENS!!!

February 8, 2015

Welp Athens, AL is where I be located and I love it here!!  It was hard to say bye to
Huntsville but I am ready to shake things up and boy are things shook up.

Athens population is about 25,000 people.  Most people are born and raised here and just never leave.  Its a very old city and has the cutest little places! It’s a hick town for sure.  Everyone here is old and white.  All the houses are pretty spread out with land unless you are in one small part of the town. haha But I love it so far!  My first meal in Athens was with the Harris'.  Sister Harris is the Relief Society President here in the ward and they are  AMAZING.  We had a REAL southern meal which I really haven’t had since being out here. With the most amazing cornbread of my life.  SO GOOD. (love yours though momma:)

We stayed with the Harris the first two nights with Sister Mennenga because President Hanks said it would be better for her to be with a member.  Brother and Sister Harris are just amazing though.  SO knowledgeable in the gospel. And just amazing examples of enduring to the end and always increasing their knowledge of the scriptures and gospel.  THEY KNOW EVERYTHING.  I want to be Sister Harris.  Just the cutest lil ol classy southern lady.

Sister Thompson is Sister Mennenga's replacement for the time being so while Sister M  has been recovering, Thompson and I do missionary work.  It’s kinda like being whitewashed but we have had a good time!  President has been calling us just checking up on us.  He said he might just leave Sister Thompson here and we might be a trio for the rest of the transfer.  We will see though!!
Since we are all companions right now we made our name together; MOLENNGASON.  We are one. We are Sisters Molenngason. hahahaha

Emmaus Experiences:
My first experience tracting in Athens was an interesting one.  Sister Thompson and I just knocked probably 20 doors and NO ONE ANSWERED. People where you at!  Not one person answered the door. It was so weird.  That has never happened to me before!! Then finally we found some people, and then we decided to knock one more door and found *****! She was baptized when she was 12 years old, but after, attended the Baptist church.  She said she doesn’t remember much so we just gave her a BOM and she said she wants to come to church. holla holla!
Emmaus Experience #2 - ****
We had an appointment with a media referral for a lady named **** who lives in an incredibly nice neighborhood.  I have never been in a house like that since I have been out on my mission.  I was in awe... She was originally interested in Family History work but is very, very interested in learning more about the gospel.  And lemme tell you people...I have never in my mission had a lesson like that.  IT WAS AMAZING.  I just kept looking over at Sister Thompson and we would just step on each other's toes kinda like..."oh.my.gosh."
She’s older, maybe 60’s. Her mother and brother passed away just a few years ago and she is genuinely and sincerely looking for the truth.  She has a friend who lives in Virginia who is a member and has been in contact with her and asking questions.  She has already been reading the Book of Mormon and has watched the restoration video (THE HOUR LONG ONE) twice!!!!  Who does that???  She is so ready and so prepared. Basically already a Relief Society President.  I am so excited about her.
After leaving **** house, Sister Thompson and I were in shock.  WE ARE HERE FOR PEOPLE LIKE PAM.  #****people.
Sorry this email is short but I love you all and I know this is where I am meant to be. I love this gospel with all that is in me! I LOVE IT.  I know its the truth.  We need to just remember our pillars of faith and everything works off of that.  God loves us. He is real.  The Book of Mormon is the best thing that has happened to this planet.  I know it’s the word of God. Those are my pillars.
I love you all!!!

Can you say transfers???

February 1, 2016

It was a miracle this week! Everyone in my family emailed me!! Y'all are the best:))))))

SO YOU WANNA KNOW??? The big transfer news! drum roll please?
I am leaving my home here in Huntsville.  I am being transferred to Athens, AL.  Which is VERY close to Huntsville.  In fact one of the families in the Branch lives in Athens! So I am leaving Huntsville, But I know I will see the Silvas again! Which makes me SO HAPPY.  Presidente Lopez on Sunday said that the branch will have a Fiesta at the Silvas soon so I will be able to see everyone again!  haha

A little more about Athens! My CCM companion, Sister Benioni has served there since we both came out and it is a English ward.  It is kinda in the middle of no where. Most people have a good amount of land and its an older city than Huntsville so the people are a little older. BUT I am super excited.  My new companion is Sister Menenga! I knew her because she was Benioni's companion and my trainers companion so I have meet her and she is awesome. I am super excited. After we got the call from the APs about the transfer news, President Hanks called and told me that Sister Menenga went in for surgery that night to get her appendix taken out.  WHAT.  She got pretty sick and turns out it was appendicitis.  So we will see what happens!  Yesterday we got a call and turns out I will be serving in a trio! With Sister Thompson as well, who I also know, not too well but I have met her! I am excited to see what happens! haha Should be interesting!

I have lots and lots of mixed feelings but I know this is all the Lord's work and it all needs to be done. I have heard great things about Athens!!  I am sad to leave the Branch though. Yesterday was my last Sunday with them and they asked if I would give a 5-10 minute talk about an experience from my mission, something I have learned, and my testimony.  Thankfully I did not cry!  But as I was conducting the closing hymn I started to tear up.  I know its just this way because this was my first area. I have become so close to this branch.  I learned how to be a missionary here and these people are my family!  I have truly learned something from every single family in the branch.  They are wonderful people in the gospel and wonderful examples to me.

This week was wonderful though!
We had Interviews with President Hanks which is always wonderful.  He is a wonderful man! As I was walking in for the interview he said "Hows my happiest missionary!"  He told me my attitude is infectious! haha so sweet.  We talked about the work and how the family is back home!

We have a new investigating family, Los Hernandez! ***** mostly, the mom. Sister Mitchell and I tracted into her and she was very interested so we talked and got a return appt.  We brought a member with us and just talked about the Book of Mormon.  He husband was there too and the spirit was so strong.  They both said they really wanted to look into it and read it.

Ana!!! Its been awhile since I have talked about her but she is doing wonderfully.  She is the best.  Seriously. We see her almost every day, if not every other day. The Silvas came with us to an appointment with her this past week. We talked about baptism and the Law of Chastity! Her son will almost be a month old and she continues to read the Book of Mormon very regularly along with the Gospel Principles book we gave her.  She LOVES the Gospel Principles book.  She says she has many questions but whenever she opens that book up it answers all of them and she feels really good.  She explained to Hna Silva that the Book of Mormon is one of her most prized possessions.  She loves it. and Loves the way she feels when she reads it. She has been to church only once before her son was born and now is just recovering and will hopefully be able to come back soon.  She wants to get baptized and realizes she needs to get married to her boyfriend before she can get baptized but her boyfriend does not want to get married.  And she doesn't think it will happen any time soon.  He wants to get married in Mexico with his whole family, which is understandable. We explained to her that she could explain to him her desire to get baptized and get legally married and then have a celebration back in Oaxaca.  We will see.  Please pray for her boyfriend to have as softened heart!

We gave her a Jesus coming out of the tomb pass along card and told her to put it somewhere she will see it everyday.  The next day we came back it was on the back of her from door:) cutest thing I have ever seen.  She is so solid.  I love her!

Thank you for everything! I know this is the church of Jesus Christ.

LOVE YOU ALL
con mucho amor,
Hermana Moline
